Lucky Red Prosperity & Longevity Envelopes 10 pack
Good Luck and Prosperity
Lucky Chinese Envelopes
This pack of 10 Lucky Envelopes bears images of a pot over flowing with gold and money with peaches for longevity. This is a great general purpose envelope good for birthdays, bar mitzvah or any significant lucky event.
Lucky Chinese envelopes are used for very special events the most popular of which is to give money during Chinese New Year.
They can also be used at any time to give money to special people. Some business people even pay their bills with a lucky envelope.
They are suitable to use for Birthdays, Weddings, Engagements and other significant events where the gift of money may be involved.
For good luck you should place 5 of the same type of currency for example if you want to put $10 notes in you should put 5. Traditionally I would place 5 coins preferably gold in the envelope and hand deliver to the recipient depending on what you are trying to achieve.
Chinese New Year (celebrated up to 4 weeks after New Years day)
For luck if you frequent a restaurant to celebrate Chinese New Year some restaurants have a lion (often confused to be a dragon) that will dance in front of the premises and then around the tables and visit the patrons during their meal. The restaurant owner will hang a lettuce above the front door where the lion will climb up to eat it. The belief is that the lettuce is symbolic of money and when you feed the lion with the lettuce he will look favourably upon you and your business and you will prosper during the year. When the lion frequents the tables the patrons can feed the lion with money placed inside the Lucky Red Envelopes. The lion will put his head down and open his mouth to let you put the envelope in. Once the lion has been fed from each of the patrons on your table he will move onto another table until all the tables have been seen. After all the money has been eaten then lion then returns to each table and more envelopes are then passed out to the patrons. It is considered lucky if you place 5 coins into the envelope that you feed the lion with one for each of the elements.
